Heat pipe computer program (HTPIPE) user's manual

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/5839045· OSTI ID:5839045
Program HTPIPE is a hydrodynamic model of heat pipe performance. The program was developed for high-performance liquid metal heat pipes but can easily be adapted to other working fluids if thermal transport property values are known. Several liquid return geometries can be analyzed including homogeneous wick, screen covered grooves, circular arteries and gutters. The program can be used to optimize the heat pipe design, to calculate performance limits, and to determine axial temperature and pressure profiles. The program is written in FORTRAN and is operational on CDC-6000 series computers. Sample problems are included.
