The design and operation of a heat-pipe type heat recovery unit for recovering heat from power plant or industrial plant flue gases and using this heat to preheat combustion air are described. In operation this unit has the advantages of high efficiency, low cost and the heat recovery potential need to meet industrial energy conservation goals. (LCL)
