A medical apparatus comprising a displaceable vertical column along which there can be slid a support in which an arm is rotatable about a first horizontal axis. Secured to the arm and rotatable about a second horizontal axis parallel to the first horizontal axis, is an examination device which comprises a combination of a radiation source and a radiation detector. Said combination is mounted on a C-shaped frame which is displaceable circumferentially about an axis which lies at right angles to both horizontal axes. The two translatory displacements and the three rotary displacements of the apparatus can be performed individually by means of corresponding variable speed motor drives whose operation can, however, be coordinated if desired. The medical apparatus is particularly suitable for so-called isocentric examinations of the vascular system.
