Seattle City Light Conservation Program activities began in 1979 with a mandate for increased emphasis on the commercial/industrial end-use sector. Some information on activities in this sector are given on energy management seminars, needs assessment, workshops, energy management advisory services, revision of service requirements. The other five major project categories and activities described in each sector are: residential (insulation demonstration program, workshop/audit, utility/bank/contractor insulation program, energy management information system, service requirements, revision of service requirements, low-income elderly insulation program); outreach (community outreach, energy information center, solar/wind education, education outreach, thermographs, portable exhibits); inhouse conservation (energy management-physical systems, employee awareness, maximizing efficiency of existing generation); research development and demonstration (hourly load prediction system - DOE, neighborhood conservation demonstration, water heater conservation study, sidewall insulation study - Oregon DOE, low cost solar/heat pump, Odessa Brown, Project Weathervane, waste heat utilization - EPRI grant, audit handbooks, Seattle opportunities industrialization center energy audit, cogeneration study, unsolicited proposals); and support activities (legislative and barrier analysis, legislative tracking, conservation information service, advertising, conservation evaluation, and grants). Thirteen attachments present sample questionnaires, status and testing information, some legislative procedures, etc.
