Cross-pit conveyor

Journal Article · · World Coal; (United States)
OSTI ID:5838245
The cross-pit conveyor system is a means of moving soil and overburden continuously and efficiently at reduced cost. It is intended primarily for applications where extensive re-handling makes dragline operations inefficient and, in general, where material must be conveyed across a pit and selectively deposited over the previously-mined area. In a typical deep-seam coal mining operation, the cross-pit conveyor (CPC) precedes the dragline as the two move down the length of the pit. A system currently under development in the United States is described and comparisons are made with other systems.
