An experimental investigation of the effects of flue gas recirculation on NO/sub x/ formation

Many methods are developed to reduce NO/sub x/ emissions. Of all the methods, flue gas recirculation (FGR) is used for the fuels containing low amounts of chemically bound nitrogen, e.g. natural gas or light distillate fuels. Small packaged boilers are designed to operate on natural gas, light and heavy oils. A flue gas recirculation system has been developed to reduce NO/sub x/ emission for both firetube and watertube type boilers. This paper considers the results obtained on a typical firetube boiler fired with both natural gas and oil.
