Combustor system burns coal, other fuels with less emissions

All types of coal can be burned with acceptably low stack emissions using the fluidized bed combustor (FBC) air heating system. The system utilizes crushed limestone and dolomite sorbent in a fluidized bed where the coal is burned. The sorbent absorbs the SO/sub 2/ and yields a dry calcium sulfate by-product. The FBC system can be easily converted to burn waste wood, paper, or petroleum coke.
