Title: BP's program for Prudhoe Bay. Pt. 1. How BP will produce North Slope oil

Journal Article · · World Oil; (United States)
OSTI ID:5831511

Despite problems connected with scheduling of the 800-mile trans-Alaskan pipeline, BP Alaska Inc. is proceeding with the $500 million Prudhoe Bay field oil gathering and production system that could be handling 1.5 million bopd by mid-1975. Key features of the crude handling system are as follows; (1) pre-packaged and enclosed gathering center units planned around multiple 75,000 bopd, 3-stage separator modules; (2) individual, bundled and insulated flowlines from directional wells on centrally located drilling site pads; (3) large diameter trunkline along roadways to the pipe line terminal; (4) unattended, failsafe operation, featuring remote test and regulating plus emergency control; (5) novel fire prevention plans and new, efficient pollution control devices; and (6) proposed plans for injection or sale of 1,200 MMcfd gas. A line drawing shows a typical wellhead planned for BP's operating area.
