Brazil seems to have a major offshore oil discovery, the only one of apparent first magnitude in 18 tries. Discovery well 1 Caioba, according to Petrobras, gaged 20,000 bpd from a Lower Cretaceous pay, between 5,996 and 6,090 ft. The only other 2 discoveries are Guaricema and Dourados. Production is Tertiary and both seem to be modest finds. Brazil's 3 marine fields are off Aracaju, in the Sergipe-Alagoas sedimentary basin.
