Tunable coherent uv to near ir generation using high order stimulated Raman scattering

Conference ·
OSTI ID:5827979
A remarkably simple method to generate coherent vuv radiation is described. The technique is based on stimulated high order Raman scattering in H/sub 2/ under tight focusing conditions. Using this method with tunable dye and rare gas halide pump lasers pulsed light output to 1238 A was produced. The important features of this process are discussed as well as its applications and extensions to the infrared region. 9 references.
