Antiferromagnetic uranium intermetallic compound UNiGa shows a large reduction of electrical resistivity in conjunction with the metamagnetic transition in fields below 1 T. On the basis of specific heat, Hall effect and thermopower measurements in various fields we suggest that the reason for the giant magnetoresistance is a substantial Fermi surface reconstruction at the transition. {copyright} {ital 1997 American Institute of Physics.}
