Effects of reclamation on water quality and geochemical processes in lakes in an abandoned surface coal mine in Henry Vounty, Missouri, August 1988-May 1990. Water resources investigation

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5818613
The purpose of the report is to present the results of a hydrologic study made in west-central Missouri near Montrose at an abandoned surface coal mine from August 1988 to May 1990. Objectives of the study were to determine changes in surface- and ground-water chemistry since mine-reclamation activities were completed during 1987; determine the reasons for differences in water chemistry between shallow and deep lakes; and determine probable changes in pH values caused by draining shallow lakes in which pH values were less than 4.5 into deep lakes in which pH values were greater than 6.
