Light particle emission measurements in heavy ion reactions. Annual progress report, June 1, 1984-May 31, 1985

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5817544
The Georgia State University program of research in light particle emissions from products of heavy ion reactions is completing another successful year under the sponsorship of the Division of High Energy and Nuclear Physics of the US Department of Energy. Our work has included continued participation in neutron emission measurements at the Hollifield Heavy Ion Research Facility (HHIRF) and a collaboration with colleagues from the Hahn Meitner Institute, the University of Lyon and University of Grenoble in neutron emission measurements at the SARA facility in Grenoble. A paper on our work at the Hollifield facility on neutron emissions from products of inelastic scattering reactions from products of the /sup 12/C + /sup 158/Gd and /sup 20/Ne + /sup 150/Nd reactions has been completed and is ready for submission to Physical Review C. We have continued our position sensitive detector development; the evaporation residue (ER) detector that we reported on last year has been completed and tested and is ready for use; and finally, the 80 cm neutron target chamber on which we have been working in collaboration with the ORNL group was completed during the year and used successfully in an experiment at the HHIRF.
