Since the current methodology mandated by the EPA for the determination of isotope ratios of priority metals in sediments, sludges, and soils is difficult, it would be advantageous to analyze these samples directly without sample preparation. Glow discharge mass spectroscopy (GDMS) holds promise in this regard. In this note, the authors report results obtained in measuring the [sup 235]U[sup +]/[sup 238]/U[sup +] isotope ratio for two soil samples (sample A and sample B) suspected of being enriched in [sup 235]U.
