Mean monthly performance of passive solar water heaters

Conference ·
OSTI ID:5816042
A simplified analysis was used to compare the average monthly performance of a compact heater (having combined collection and storage) and a thermosiphon heater (using natural convective transfer from a collector to an insulated tank). The comparison, which was made for a range of climates and a variety of load profiles indicated that the performance of the thermosiphon is substantially superior to that of the compact heater.
