/sup 68/Cu in the core-coupling model

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., C; (United States)
Energy levels in /sup 68/Cu are calculated using the core-coupling model. Levels in the odd nuclei /sup 65/Cu, /sup 67/Cu, and /sup 69/Zn are first calculated to find the appropriate core-coupling parameters. These parameters are then used along with a zero-range proton-neutron interaction to calculate levels in /sup 68/Cu. In the model the second excited state is predicted to be a 3/sup +/ level rather than the (3/sup -/) level currently assigned in the nuclear data sheets. The ordering of the quartet formed by coupling the p/sub 3/2/ proton to the g/sub 9/2/ neutron is predicted to be 6/sup -/, 3/sup -/, 4/sup -/, 5/sup -/.
