Conference · · Soc. Pet. Eng. AIME, Pap.; (United States)
OSTI ID:5811271
The Morrow Formation is one of the main targets of the drilling activity in SE. New Mexico. This work presents background information including formation lithology derived from X-ray diffraction data and scanning electron micrographs. Formation rock characteristics such as frac gradients, permeability, porosity and formation water properties are presented also. Completion techniques such as cementing practices, casing programs, and perforating programs are reviewed. The stimulation fluids, volumes, injection rates, and types of proppant used are presented to provide an optimum completion program.
