Conventional platforms held to 1350 ft

The largest deepwater production platform launched to date is 935-ft long. But designers estimate conventional single-piece platform jackets for water depths to 1350 ft could be built and transported with conventional equipment. Probable launch weight would be 42,500 tons, requiring a 530-ft overhang at the stern of the largest existing launch barge. The jacket and transport barge would have sufficient stability for a coastal tow within the Gulf of Mexico, but not an ocean tow. The design of the platform is described.
