Rayleigh--Taylor instability of a continuously stratified magnetofluid under a general rotation field

The Rayleigh--Taylor instability of a continuously stratified magnetofluid under a general rotation field and a vertically stratified horizontal magnetic field is investigated. The upper bound for the growth rate of the perturbation is found and corrections to that obtained by Chakraborty (Phys. Fluids /bold 25/, 743 (1982)) are given. The theory predicts the formation of rolls appearing in natural rotating convection and magnetoconvection.
