In determining and substantiating petroleum prospects, estimates are both qualitative and quantitative. The qualitative stage is based on regional and detailed geological and geophysical investigations and exploration-research and serves as the basis for the quantitative assessment. The latter is achieved by using a number of methods of calculation: on the averaged structure, the densities of the reserves, volume-genetic methods, etc. 2 figures.
