This two-volume set presents the papers given at the 1978 Uranium Mill Tailings Management Symposium. The main objective of the symposium was to determine how to provide tailings management at minimum cost and with minimum environmental impact. Topics considered at the symposium included innovations and alternatives (e.g. a milling process providing flexibility to tailings disposal methods), groundwater and seepage (e.g. lining systems for seepage control in uranium mill tailings holding ponds), design considerations and alternatives (e.g. current uranium mill wastes disposal concepts), and abandonment and reclamation (e.g. the long-term stability of uranium mill tailings).
