This paperback book, published by John Wiley and Sons in 1987, by British author J.R. Thomson, provides an interesting overview of the current means of assessing the safety of hazardous industrial plants. Although the text is fairly short, it provides detailed information regarding numerous approaches to the main topic as well as background in basic probability and systems reliability. This review discusses the topics introduced in each chapter and the presentation of these topics.
