Desulfurizing in a delayed coking process

Patent ·
OSTI ID:5805337
This patent describes a delayed coking process for the conversion of high sulfur residual oil feedstock to coke, hydrocarbon liquid and sweet gas fractions. It comprises coking the sour residual oil feedstock at coking conditions thereby converting the feedstock to coke and sour hydrocarbon fluids, separating the sour hydrocarbon fluids from the coke, fractionating the sour hydrocarbon fluids to yield a sour C{sub 1}-C{sub 4} gas fraction, and a hydrocarbon liquid fraction, desulfurizing by amine scrubbing the entire sour C{sub 1}-C{sub 4} gas fraction to yield a sweet C{sub 1}-C{sub 4} gas fraction.
