This is a report of the symposium on the harvesting of a larger part of the forest biomass, which was held at the invitation of the Finnish Government at Hyvinkaa from 14 to 16 June 1976 under the aegis of the Joint FAO/ECE/ILO Committee on Forest Working Techniques and Training of Forest Workers, in close collaboration with the International Union of Forestry Research Organization (IUFRO).
