Work-related lung-disease surveillance report
Surveillance data for various occupational respiratory diseases were summarized. Some data originated from programs administered by the Division of Respiratory Disease Studies from NIOSH such as the Coal Workers' X-Ray Surveillance Program and the National Coal Workers' Autopsy Study. Other data was taken from publications, reports, and tapes provided by the National Center for Health Statistics, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Mine Safety and Health Administration, OSHA, the Health Care Financing Administration and the Social Security Administration. The report had two sections. The first section contained 21 figures displaying data from tables and the second section contained 59 tables. Subjects covered in the data include coal workers' pneumoconioses, asbestosis, silicosis, exposure to cotton dust, pneumopathy due to inhalation of other dust, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, toxic agents, dust diseases of the lung, and compensation.
