Conference ·
OSTI ID:5801269
An APRI sponsored workshop to address heat rate improvement of existing Fossil plants was hosted by Union Electric Company in Saint Louis, Missouri on September 20-22, 1983. This workshop was organized to provide a forum for representatives from several utilities to meet and address current key technical issues and problems associated with heat rate improvement. Another objective of this workshop was to provide utility input to EPRI project 1403-3, ''Heat Rate Improvement of Existing Fossil Plants.'' The purpose of this project is to develop guidelines for utilities on the initiation and development of a heat rate improvement program. The workshop was attended by approximately 150 utility members representing 70 US and Canadian utilities. Formal presentations were given on several key topics of interest to utility personnel on heat rate improvement. Case studies describing important or unique utility experiences were presented. A presentation on EPRI research project 1403-3 discussed this project's objectives and provided a status report on the project activities. Copies of these papers are included in these proceedings. Working group discussion sessions were held on selected topics relevant to heat rate improvement to provide an opportunity for utility engineers to exchange ideas and information in a less formal environment. Summaries of these working group discussions are provided in these proceedings. In addition to the formal presentations and working group discussions, tutorials were given by recognized experts on topics of general interest and importance to utility engineers. Papers have been entered individually into EDB and ERA. (LTN)
