Properties of samples of the system BiO/sub 1. 5/YO/sub 1. 5/-BaO
The electrical properties and the character of conductivity of samples of Bi/sub 0.75/Y/sub 0.25/O/sub 1.5/ + x mole % BaO (x = 0-40) have been studied; three phases have been detected: a face-centered, a bulk-centered, and a perovskite phase. An increase in the barium oxide content reduces the total conductivity, increases the fraction of the electronic components, and reduces the linear expansion. The relationship between In(xT) and the reciprocal temperature 1/T was found to be linear. The activation enthalpy of conductivity in the system Bi/sub 0.75/Y/sub 0.25/O/sub 1.5/-BaO is equal to 113.6 +/- 2.1, 117.7 +/- 1.1, 116.4 +/- 0.4, and 83.7 +/- 1.7 kJ/mole, respectively, for samples containing 0, 10, 20, and 40 mole % BaO.
