The report has been prepared under a Memorandum of Understanding between the U.S. Bureau of Mines, U.S. Department of the Interior, and the Bureau of Economic Geology, The University of Texas at Austin, for collecting information on all nonfuel minerals. The mineral industry in Texas produced $1.5 billion of nonfuel minerals in 1990. This was the second consecutive year that mineral value declined; the 1990 value was $295 million below the record $1.8 billion established in 1981.
