Spectrographic determination of impurities in technical-grade yttrium and zirconium oxides

Journal Article · · Ind. Lab. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)

Two procedures for the spectrophotometric determination of traces of silicon, iron, magnesium, calcium, titanium, and aluminium oxides in yttrium and zirconium oxides are discussed in this paper and their relative accuracies are tested against State Reference Standards. The two procedures are: the x-ray spectrometric determination of impurities in yttrium and zirconium oxides using spark excitation of the spectra of solutions introduced by aerosol atomization, and the x-ray spectrometric determination of the impurities by the sparking of briquets containing graphite as the conducting component. Impurity contents as determined by these methods are tabulated.
