The hydrostatic testing and physical rehabilitation of pipeline of the Natural Gas Pipeline Co. in Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois and the Gulf Coast is discussed. Total length of the lines to be tested was 288 miles and included in the contracts were various repair and replacement tasks. This paper describes procedures (e.g. filling line with filtered water; pressurizing), dewatering, drying, replacements and repairs. Along with the hydrostatic tests, Sheehan also installed 10,000 ft of new, heavier wall pipe to accommodate growth in population in several areas, eliminated crossovers that were no longer necessary, and replaced 16 mainline valve settings with new full-opening valve settings.
