The ..pi.. and sigma centers of alkenyl-silanes and -stannanes can participate in reactions with derivatives of phosphorus thio acids containing S-H and S-Cl bonds. Change in the structure of the alkenyl group and in the nature of the metal in the substrate influences the character of the substances formed substantially. The difference in the chemical behaviors of dialkoxyoxophosphoranesulfenyl chlorides and benzenesulfenyl chloride in reactions with unsaturated organo-silicon and -tin compounds results from the formation of structurally different intermediate compounds in the electrophilic attack of the sulfenyl chloride on the double bond. S-(Trimethylsilyl) esters of phosphorus dithio acids are able to react with vinyl- and allyl-stannanes by a substitution scheme with the formation of the corresponding alkenyl-stannanes and S-stannyl phosphorodithioates.
