Energy conservation opportunities implemented by small and medium-size manufacturers. EADC Program, 1981-1983

OSTI ID:5792953
The 479 small and medium-size manufacturers served by the Energy Analysis and Diagnostic Center program during 1981-83 implemented 1782 energy conservation opportunities (ECOs) that had been identified in their plants. By doing so they were able to save over $11.25 million/year of their energy costs and to conserve more than 1822 billion Btu/year of their energy use. Those quantities represent 72.6% of the potential savings and 74.8% of the total conservation identified by the five EADCs that performed energy audits in these plants. This report presents the first overall analysis of the 1782 ECOs implemented, although previous reports have discussed portions of them. They are examined at different levels of detail, according to the energy sources involved, the categories of energy use affected, and the industries where they occurred.
