Stabilization of highly saline geothermal brines

Severe scaling and plugging experienced in a dual-flash test facility using hot brine from the Salton Sea known geothermal resource area (KGRA) has impeded the development of that resource. A proposed brine treatment process appears to have eliminated these problems, making development of a 49-MW dual-flash power plant feasible.
