2/sup +/ resonances in the two-particle photodisintegration of /sup 4/He

The equations for the E1 and E2 amplitudes in the R-matrix formalism are used to calculate the electric quadrupole cross sections and angular distribution asymmetry coefficients for (..gamma..,p) and (..gamma..,n) reactions in the /sup 4/He nucleus. To obtain satisfactory description of experiment, values of the reduced deuteron width ..gamma../sup 2//sub d/ of the 2/sup +/(0) resonance state of /sup 4/He must be chosen which are quite different from the value 3.2 MeV found by Werntz and Meyerhof.(AIP)
