Turbine meters for liquid measurement

Journal Article · · Mech. Eng.; (United States)

Provides a brief guide to the operation and application of turbine flowmeters for liquid product measurement. Examines the effect of viscosity on turbine meter range and accuracy, types of meter outputs, effects of specific gravity, and installation techniques. Reports that in recent years, turbine meters have been competing successfully with positive displacement meters in many applications due to the economy of installation, low maintenance, weight, size, part of the normal piping in a loading arm, and higher flow rates per comparable connection size. Points out that the use of turbine flowmeters for the measurement of light hydrocarbons for the filling of tank trucks at bulk loading terminals is a new application.
