Background noise in the steam generator of a sodium cooled reactor represents interference in leak detection and must be measured as a necessary stage in designing an acoustic system for detecting the leakage of water into sodium. This paper presents measurements made on the BN-600 steam generators with two sensors in the lower sodium channels of the evaporator and superheater. The noise was measured over a range of 0.63 to 160 kHz by a spectrum analyzer. Noise spectra are graphed.
