A method of, and apparatus for, regulating a power plant is disclosed which contains a gas turbine assembly operated in an open cycle which essentially comprises a compressor for the combustion air, a combustion chamber and a gas turbine. A heat exchanger is arranged following the turbine exhaust and in the heat exchanger there is utilized the thermal energy still contained in the exhaust gases of the gas turbine. In order to regulate the output of the gas turbine, a variable quantity of compressed air is returned into the flow path of the combustion air to a stage operating at a lower pressure.
