A search for K sup + yields. pi. sup +. nu. nu. and other rare K sup + decays

Conference ·
OSTI ID:5778087
Experiment 787 at Brookhaven, a collaboration of groups from Brookhaven, Los Alamos, Princeton, and TRIUMF, is designed to search for rare K{sup +} decays, including K{sup +} {yields} {pi}{sup +}{nu}{bar {nu}}, K{sup +} {yields} {pi}{sup +}{mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup {minus}}, and K{sup +} {yields} {pi}{sup +}{gamma}{gamma}. The experiment uses a low-energy, 775-MeV K{sup +} beam from the Low Energy Separated Beam at the Alternating Gradient Synchrotron. The typical kaon intensity entering the detector is {approximately}8 {times} 10{sup 5} kaons per 1.8-second spill. 10 refs., 2 figs., 1 tab.
