A system configuration study of a TPV power source based on a liquid hydrocarbon burner, a SiC emitter and low bandgap PV cells is presented together with projected performance characteristics. The TPV power source design is scaleable to output power levels ranging from few hundreds watts (Man-portable TPV battery charger) to few Kilowatts (TPV Power Generator). {copyright} {ital 1997 American Institute of Physics.}
