To determine the impacts of the Three Mile Island accident for this final report, the Pennsylvania Department of Commerce's Bureau of Statistics, Research and Planning undertook the collection of data from a large sample of manufacturing establishments within an approximate 20 mile radius of the TMI plant. The purpose of this effort was to obtain information useful in evaluating the year-long effect of the TMI accident on manufacturing and to assess the degree of recovery from its economic effects. The study also covered the 12 month period after the TMI accident, from March 30, 1979 through March 1980.
