Postshock abundances have been followed for 10/sup 5/ years after the passage of a 10 km s/sup -1/ shock through a gas of initial density 100 cm/sup -3/. Abundance profiles and postshock column densities are presented for species which show marked changes in abundance, namely for C, C/sup +/, CO, CO/sub 2/, O/sub 2/, H/sub 2/CO, CH/sub 3/, CH/sub 4/, C/sub 2/H, C/sub 2/H/sub 2/, O, OH, H/sub 2/O, CH/sup +/, CH/sup +//sub 2/, CH/sup +//sub 3,/ CO/sup +/, HCO/sup +/, N/sub 2/, NO, CN, HCN, NH, NH/sub 2/, NH/sub 3/, HS, H/sub 2/S, SO, SO/sub 2/, CS, and H/sub 2/CS. Formation and destruction mechanisms for these species are discussed. We suggest that the enhancement of HCO/sup +/ in the shocked gas of IC 443 may be due to the presence of an appreciable abundance of C/sup +/ in the preshocked cloud.
