This article gives an overview of current directions in research in concentrated suspensions and identifies areas needing further research. The topics of the article are microstructure and flow, migration and ordering of suspended particles, two-phase flow, shear-induced microstructural changes, research needed for the entire span of Reynolds numbers, turbulence and potential flows of concentrated suspensions, and instabilities and heat transfer in concentrated suspensions.
