Fiducial monitor for an x-ray streak camera

A fiducial monitor system that has been adapted and utilized for a commercial x-ray streak camera is described. The fiducial allows an unambiguous temporal synchronization of the incident KrF UV laser pulse with the features of the x-ray emission streak as required in ablation rate studies involving multilayered targets. The linearity of the fiducial record was confirmed by recording the laser pulse simultaneously with an UV streak camera.
