Recent developments in producing monoammonium and diammonium phosphates using the TVA pipe-cross reactor

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5767998
For several years regional NPKS granulation plants have been producing small quantities of MAP (nonammonium phosphate) with the TVA pipe-cross reactor. Now primary phosphate producers are beginning to produce MAP at rates approaching 100 tons per hour by using large pipe-cross reactors. Although much of the recent interest has been in MAP production, production of DAP (diammonium phosphide) with the PCR has continued at one location in the US. The DAP-PCR design has been refined and solutions to the scaling problems have been found. Several other primary phosphate producers are considering using a PCR to produce DAP.
