Typical electric bills: January 1, 1979

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5764620
The report provides comprehensive coverage of the cost to consumers for representative amounts of electricity used per month for residential, commercial, and industrial service in all sections of the nation. Bills for residential electric service are reported for five different energy-consumption levels in all communities with populations of 2500 or more. For commercial and industrial service, bills are presented for all large cities. Commercial bills are shown for 5 combinations of billing demands in kilowatts and monthly consumption levels in kilowatt-hours; industrial bills cover 5 billing demands and 10 consumption levels. Average costs of electricity to American business and residential customers continue to rise over those reported a year earlier, attributed to the continuing rise in fuel costs and the costs of labor, goods, and services to electric utilities. Modifications in basic rate structures and the application of fuel adjustment clauses are other factors affecting the increases. (MCW)
