The US Department of Energy, Department of Transportation Energy Conservation, the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory, the New Mexico Energy Institute, and the Deutsche Forschungs-und Versuchsanstalt fur Luft-und Raumfahrt are participating in a cooperative evaluation and state-of-the-art demonstration project for liquid hydrogen vehicle onboard storage and refueling techniques. The evaluation will also include safety, economic, and energy assessments for liquid hydrogen as a fuel. The project will provide a baseline system representing present capabilities in engine conversion, liquid hydrogen storage, and liquid hydrogen refueling.
