The isobaric phase diagram of the Cu{sub 2}O-CuO-Y{sub 2}O{sub 3} ternary system has been investigated under 0.21 atm oxygen partial pressure mainly by thermogravimetric and differential thermal analyses. The present system was confirmed to consist of four solid phases: Y{sub 2}O{sub 3}, Y{sub 2}Cu{sub 2}O{sub 5}, CuO, and Cu{sub 2}O. The Y{sub 2}Cu{sub 2}O{sub 5} phase is formed by the peritectic reaction with Y{sub 2}O{sub 3} at 1493 K. An univariant reaction, L {l reversible} Cu{sub 2}O + Y{sub 2}Cu{sub 2}O{sub 5}, appears at 1368 K. Cu{sub 2}O is stable at high temperatures and transforms to CuO at 1299 K.
