Evaluation of radiation emission from video display terminals. Final report

The Bureau of Radiological Health, Food and Drug Administration, has conducted an evaluation of video display terminals (VDT's) to determine emission of ionizing and nonionizing radiation. Measurements for ionizing radiation were performed on 125 VDT's; of these, 34 were also measured for nonionizing radiation emission. In this report, the sources of radiation are discussed, with emphasis on circuit analysis and critical components that may cause radiation. The radiation emission data are reported here. Emission values from video display terminals were found to be within existing state, federal, and international guidelines.
