Optimization and heat transfer for a vertical fin array on isothermal and nonisothermal plane surfaces with combined natural convection and radiation

Numerical calculations of the heat transfer with simultaneous natural convection and radiation, considering radiative interactions for a fin array on a vertical plate were carried out. Optimum arrangements were determined for minimizing the fin volume and the equivalent volume which includes the interfin spaces. The optimum configuration parameters (fin number, fin space, fin height, fin thickness) are presented for the case of an isothermal base plate.
