Directional correlations of. gamma. transitions in sup 135 Xe following the decay of sup 135 I
- Instituto de Pesquisas Energeticas e Nucleares, Comissao Nacional de Energia Nuclear, 05499 Sao Paulo, Brazil (BR)
Directional correlations of coincident gamma transitions have been measured in {sup 135}Xe following the {beta}{sup {minus}} decay of fission product {sup 135}I ({ital T}{sub 1/2}=6.7 h) using a spectrometer consisting of a Ge and a Ge(Li) detector. The measurements were carried out for 14 gamma cascades populated in {sup 135}Xe. The present results permitted definite spin assignment to the levels at 1131 keV (7/2{sup +}), 1678 keV (7/2{sup +}), 1968 keV (9/2{sup +}), 2223 keV (9/2{sup +}), 2255 keV (7/2{sup +}), and 2372 keV (9/2). In addition, several previous spin assignments to other levels were confirmed. The multipole mixing ratios {delta}({ital E}2/{ital M}1) for 12 {gamma} ray transitions were determined from the present results.
